Senior Generator Field Technician
Summary:
National Power, LLC is actively seeking an experienced Senior/Master Generator Technician. Reporting to the Service Manager, you will play a pivotal role in performing and supervising service operations for National Power's customers and service teams. In this position, you will train, develop, and direct an assigned group of service technicians who startup, service, and repair industrial generators and related equipment, including Bypass Isolation ATS and other related machinery. This role requires both hands-on technical expertise and strong leadership capabilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Supervise and direct the work of assigned service technicians within geographic territory
- Evaluate performance, provide coaching and feedback, and develop training programs to improve technical knowledge and overall performance of assigned technicians
- Identify and assign team members to provide field support and mentorship to other service technicians
- Partner with Service Director to resolve employee performance or behavioral issues and determine staffing needs
- Participate in recruiting and hiring of field service technicians
- Serve as first point of contact for phone and field support, including troubleshooting, emergency repair assistance, and parts delivery; escalate complex issues to Service Director as needed
- Conduct preventive maintenance, emergency maintenance, startup, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of generators and related equipment
- Make pre-startup site visits to advise and assist installing contractors
- Lead safety initiatives and oversight for all technicians in assigned geography, ensuring compliance with safety protocols
- Execute Quality Control programs within assigned geographic territory, working with Technical Service Manager to implement QC procedures and ensure proper documentation
- Support Service Manager in reviewing work orders at all stages of project execution
- Drive and promote continuous improvement of field operations
- Provide customer-focused support to enhance customer relationships and resolve concerns
- Support planning and quoting of complex service projects
- Assist Service Director with Generac warranty process administration
- Advise service operations team on time and materials needed for various service levels
- Provide after-hours emergency response support as needed
- Occasional overnight travel required
Education/Experience/Skills:
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Generac Master Technician or equivalent certification and training is required
- High level of expertise with switchgear
- Positive attitude and strong customer service skills required
- Ability to manage a team of technicians
- Fluency in written and spoken English
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
- Strong organizational, computer, and communication skills
- Overnight travel may be required
Compensation and Benefits:
- Competitive pay depending on previous experience and current certifications. Overtime is also a factor, and it is paid at 1.5 X base. We are a performance-based company and pay will ultimately reflect the employee’s productivity and overall performance

Physical Demands
- Lifting and carrying heavy objects, up to 75lbs, will be required.
- Ascending or descending ladders, scaffolding, stairs, ramps and the like using feet/legs and/or hands/arms
- Seizing, holding, grasping, turning, or otherwise working with hand(s)
- Pushing/pulling may involve use of hands/arms, feet/legs, and/or feet only done with one side of the body or both sides
- Moving about on hands and knees or hands and feet to enter restricted spaces.
- Occasionally, using one or both feet or legs to move controls on machinery or equipment. Controls include, but are not limited to, pedals
- Clarity of vision and color vision are both required (i.e., working with small objects or reading small print), including use of computers
- Sitting/Driving for long periods is frequently required
Work Conditions
- The technician may be required to work in various weather conditions (heat, rain, snow, high humidity, etc.)
- Frequently work near moving mechanical parts
- Criminal background check, pre-employment drug screen and MVR required
- Must be able to pass a Department of Transportation physical examination
- This is a remote position and will require the employee to work from home
